California Ecosystems The Natural Science Gallery is located on the first level. It features A Walk Across California, including a diorama of a Sacramento delta marsh showing fish, bird, and insect life, and another of a mountain lion and its prey, demonstrating nature s food chain.
Morrison Planetarium chequehotel Embark on a guided tour of the universe. The night skies never looked more real, and you can travel to the very limits of the known universe with stateof- the-art exhibits and digital technology. Shows are presented on a daily basis.
The AIDS Interfaith Memorial Chapel con tains a triptych altarpiece Floorplan of of bronze and white gold Grace Cathedral (below) by the New York artist Keith Haring. It was completed shortly before his own death from AIDS. The central panel shows a multi-armed figure of compassion, while the side panels depict winged souls soaring above.
Mission Dolores The original chequehotel Spanish Misi n San Francisco de As s, from which the city takes its name, is a marvel of preservation and atmospheric charm. It was founded in 1776, just a few weeks before the Declaration of Independence (see pp30 31).
